For 14 years I have had the privilege of being a trusted advisor to First Nation/indigenous leaders and managers, many of whom have become my friends. Now I am continuing this service through my own company - reflecting my own values and identity.
After 14 years in a large firm, I am now flying on my own and can invest the time and passion that I believe is necessary to build trust and demonstrate results. I'm a trusted advisor to Chiefs and Councils, Boards, Elders and Managers because of my knowledge and skill - but mostly because of my commitment to their success and my understanding of who they are as people.
I was born into an arranged marriage that solidified a pact between two families seeking a better life in Canada. My Chinese name is 方國華 (Fong Gwok Wah) which translates to "Great Country". The vision and hope for our families is enshrined in my name, and this is the foundation for my work: to honor my parents' sacrifice, and to always see the potential that exists for my clients and their families.
I've been told many times by my treasured clients that it's hard to find the right technical knowledge/skills in a person who also understands the history, culture and conditions surrounding indigenous people today.
I've worked hard to ensure that this right balance is always
front-and-center in everything I do: I will always listen, and I will always deliver the solutions that I believe are the right fit for you and your families.
The Chinese Characters for Will Fong’s birth name are prominently displayed above the company name.
The characters and company name are surrounded by a red border, indicative of a traditional Chinese Chop or seal used to “sign” important documents
The enso circle represents traditional Chinese calligraphy brushstrokes, and is also an important Zen symbol.
The seven circles represent the seven-generation perspective for planning and benefit of future generations.
I am passionate about supporting those who make a significant sacrifice and put themselves and their families in the spotlight of leadership.
My goal is to provide tools, wise practices and advice for Chiefs, Councils, and Boards who are trying to make a difference for future generations in their communities .
Managers can be overloaded and generally short-staffed.
My mission is to provide instant capacity to help move major projects forward, without disrupting day-to-day priorities.
I can train staff, create plans to coordinate work, and oversee projects to ensure they're completed for everyone's success.
First Nation businesses have great opportunities ahead of them, and they represent a largely untapped market for talent and resources.
I love working with these businesses to help them leverage every competitive advantage available to them in order to generate long-term wealth and influence other businesses.
Honoured to be working from the traditional territory of the Siksikaitsitapi, including the Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika Nations; the Îyâxe Nakoda, including the Chiniki, Bearspaw and Wesley Nations; and the Tsuut’ina Nation.
Thankful for the peace treaty no.7 that allowed Calgary to grow from Mohkinstsis.
